Sorry-- didn't get a chance to post until now :o)
01-16-->01-21-05

Hi Everyone!

Well, this week wasn’t too interesting. It was over-crammed with pharmacology and internal medicine. We didn’t have anything too exciting in class. The only cool stuff we did was completely on our own: a bunch of us got together on Thursday afternoon and we practiced listening to lung sounds on one another. One of the people was a smoker and she was also sick. On her I found crackles on her lower right lung and on her lower left lung. It was quite exciting! I can’t wait to find someone w/ bad asthma so I could hear wheezing!!!

Everyone has been sick around here, and I am doing my best not to catch anything, but b/c we are in a closed environment for such a long time, and with everyone coughing their lungs out, it ceased to be a lecture hall and became a nasty Petri dish!

The weather has been wonderful! I never thought I’d say it, but 50F feels REALLY warm!!! :o)

I have a big quiz on Monday, so I will spend my weekend studying. We are almost done with this section- we are in week 3 right now, and this section only lasts 5 weeks. After this section we will have cardio and then GI, and then the year will be over (ahhhhhh!) I can’t believe how fast this year is going. It needs to slow down a bit.

Well gang, I really better go study, or at least go over today’s notes

XOXO,

Reut

Week of 01-08-->01-14-05

Hi everyone!

Okay, so you know how I never drove in ice and snow and any type of wintry weather? (still haven’t, not planning to do it unless really have to) Well, after the huge storm we had a week ago, I ran out of groceries and had to get some food… I figured that the roads weren’t bad, and that I’ll just have to clean the car and everything will be dandy.

So I went downstairs and with my ice scraper/chipper/brush thing attempted to get in the car. Finally after good 20 minutes I got the driver side door to open and I went inside and turned on the car—figured that my poor car would love me if it was running after sitting there for such a long time.

Anyways, 40 minutes later I’m out there in the freezing weather chipping away at the ice and just having a good time, and then my friend Moe comes over. He said to me: “Reut… what are you doing???” So I answered: “I’m chipping away at the ice so I could go to the grocery store.” So he looked at me funny and asked me: “Is your defroster on?” (now mind you, I have NEVER used the defroster for anything but “de-fogging”… I’m from Arizona, I never drove in this weather)… so I say to him: “Moe, I don’t have the thing to spray on the windows!” He looked at me like I was crazy and said: “The defroster inside the car.” Then it hit me… “D’OH! So THAT’S what it is for!”

Moe and I just stood there cracking up at my “weather-ignorance,” and now, a week later I still think it is funny :o) It’s a good thing no one has it on film, or else I’d be taunted for life!!!

So, this week has been a whole lot harder. We had TONS of pharm, and TONS of physiology online. I am pooped from learning the different drug—Dr. Hentosh isn’t teaching this section, so… I have to come up w/my own mnemonics…

Anyways, it is Sunday today, and I have so much more material to go over. Yesterday I did Antibiotics, and today I better go over medications given with Asthma and do some Acid-base problems.

Love, love, love,

Reut

Back to school
Week of 01-03-05--> 01-07-05

Hi everybody!

Wow, coming back to school was difficult… but actually now that the week is over I can say that it’s nice being back.

So far Respiratory section is well organized. On Monday, we had embryology (which everyone knows I love), and we had a few hours with Dr. Nelson in Anatomy lecture. The way he teaches is absolutely great—lots of drawing things out by hand—it is so much easier for me to remember things that way.

Tuesday was really awesome, and in the afternoon we had Anatomy lab— the lab itself was really fun, but due to really bad weather they shut the school down at 3pm and kicked us out!!! (This usually doesn’t happen… they almost never shut the school down.) I walked back home, and it was raining in buckets. The only thing was that this rain froze on contact, which means that by the time I got home (a 5 minute walk) I had icicles around my umbrella and icicles on my back pack!!! Don’t forget, I just came back from sunny Arizona, so this winter-weather was not something I wanted to experience.

Anyways, during the night we had a terrible ice-storm, and on Wednesday they basically shut the city down. It was terrible! So we got a snow-day, or rather… ice-day. I didn’t waste the day and worked a head on the lectures.

Thursday and Friday were catching up day. …what can I say, I never want to have another snow-day. Catching up is just very difficult, and in these 2 days we got just massive amount of information (double the usual basically). Yuck. But, despite my behind completely disappearing due to sitting all day today, we are done with the week and now I have the weekend to study for the test—hurrah…

Have a great weekend,

Much love,

Reut
